Getting There

  • Car

    If you're traveling by car, start from Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. Take the A-37 road heading east towards Khatlon Region. Continue on A-37 until you reach the junction at Kurgan-Tyube. From there, take the A-38 road towards the town of Panjakent. After approximately 70 km, turn onto the road leading to Iskanderkul Lake (look for signs). The drive will take around 3-4 hours depending on traffic and road conditions. There is a nominal entrance fee to the lake area, usually around 10 TJS per person.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Iskanderkul via public transportation, take a shared taxi or minibus (marshrutka) from Dushanbe to Kurgan-Tyube. The fare is typically around 20 TJS. The journey takes about 1.5-2 hours. Once in Kurgan-Tyube, you will need to find a taxi or another marshrutka heading towards Panjakent. Make sure to specify that you want to go to Iskanderkul Lake. The second leg of the journey can cost approximately 30-40 TJS and will take another 2 hours. The drivers are generally familiar with the route to Iskanderkul, but it's good to confirm with them.
