Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Walking
If you are in the heart of Stone Town, head towards the waterfront area known as Forodhani Gardens. From the Old Fort (Ngome Kongwe), walk towards the ocean until you reach the seafront promenade. Once you reach the promenade, continue walking along the waterfront. You will see Forodhani Park directly in front of you. The park is a popular gathering place and is well marked. It is about a 10-minute walk from the Old Fort.
Bicycle
If you have access to a bicycle, you can ride from any location in Stone Town towards Forodhani Park. Start on the main road leading to the waterfront. Follow the signs towards the seafront. Once you reach the water, look for the entrance to Forodhani Park, which is a few minutes away from the main road. Make sure to park your bicycle in a safe location nearby.
Tuk-tuk
To take a tuk-tuk, find a tuk-tuk stand or hail one on the street. Tell the driver 'Forodhani Park' or 'the park near the waterfront in Stone Town'. The ride will take about 5-10 minutes from most locations in Stone Town. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting your journey.
Public Transport (Dala Dala)
If you want to use public transport, find a dala dala (local minibus) heading towards the Stone Town area. Ask the driver to let you off at the Forodhani Park stop. Once you step off, you will be a short walk away from the park. Look for signs that direct you to the waterfront, as Forodhani Park is adjacent to the water.
