Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Walking
If you are starting from the heart of Zanzibar City, such as from the Forodhani Gardens, head east towards the Old Fort. From there, take the road that leads to the north, passing by the House of Wonders. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with the main road (Mizingani Rd). Cross the road carefully and keep heading north. You will eventually come across a sign that directs you towards Sky Roads. Follow the signs or ask locals for further directions as you get closer.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in the city. Start at the Old Fort, cycling north along Mizingani Rd. This route is quite straightforward and allows you to enjoy the coastal views. Keep going until you see signs for Sky Roads. Ensure you are cautious of pedestrians and street vendors along the way.
Public Transport (Dala Dala)
Find a Dala Dala (local minibus) that is heading towards the northern parts of Zanzibar City. You can catch them from various points in the city, such as from the market or near the Old Fort. Inform the driver that you want to go to Sky Roads. Once you arrive at the nearest stop, disembark and ask locals for the final directions to Sky Roads, which is a short walk away.
Taxi (Bajaji)
You can hire a Bajaji (a three-wheeled taxi) from anywhere in Zanzibar City. Simply tell the driver that you wish to go to Sky Roads. The driver will navigate through the streets, and you can enjoy a comfortable ride. Make sure to confirm the fare beforehand or negotiate it before starting your journey.
