  • Public Transit

    From downtown Johnson City, walk to the Johnson City Transit Center located at 150 E Main St. Board the Route 1 bus heading towards Elizabethton. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the stop at the Elizabethton Walmart. From there, transfer to Route 2 bus towards the Elizabethton area and get off at the stop closest to W Elk Ave. After disembarking, walk approximately 0.5 miles west on W Elk Ave, and you will arrive at Fort Watauga located at 1504 W Elk Ave.

  • Bicycle

    If you're renting a bicycle in Johnson City, start at Founders Park and head west on E Main St. Continue towards State of Franklin Rd, then take a left onto State of Franklin Rd. Follow the road until it merges into TN-67 W. Continue straight until you reach Elizabethton. Once in Elizabethton, turn onto W Elk Ave and cycle for about 2 miles. Fort Watauga will be on your right at 1504 W Elk Ave.

  • Walking

    From the center of Johnson City, start walking west along E Main St until you reach the intersection with State of Franklin Rd. Turn left on State of Franklin Rd and continue until you reach TN-67 W. Follow TN-67 W into Elizabethton. After about 1.5 miles, turn right onto W Elk Ave and walk for another mile, where you will find Fort Watauga at 1504 W Elk Ave. This walk will take approximately 1.5 hours.
