Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Galveston, TX, take I-45 N toward Houston. Merge onto I-10 E toward Beaumont. After about 50 miles, take exit 845 for TX-73 E toward Port Arthur. Continue on TX-73 E for approximately 15 miles and then take exit toward Sabine Pass. Follow the signs to Sabine Pass. Turn left onto Clam Lake Rd, and the McFaddin National Wildlife Refuge will be on your right at 5632 Clam Lake Rd, Sabine Pass, TX 77655.

• Public Transportation

  Start by taking a Greyhound bus or another regional bus service from your location in Gulf Coast to Port Arthur, TX. Once you arrive in Port Arthur, you will need to take a local taxi or rideshare service to reach McFaddin National Wildlife Refuge at 5632 Clam Lake Rd, Sabine Pass, TX 77655, as public transportation options directly to the refuge are limited.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, you can bike from nearby areas. Starting from Port Arthur, head east on TX-73 E. It is approximately a 15-mile ride to the refuge. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow traffic rules. There are no designated bike lanes, so exercise caution while riding on the road.

• Walking

  Walking to McFaddin National Wildlife Refuge is not recommended due to the distance from the nearest town (Sabine Pass) and the lack of sidewalks along TX-73 E. It's best to use a car or public transportation for safety and convenience.
