History of Ayutthaya Historical Park

Ayutthaya was founded in 1350 by King Uthong, who established it as the capital of the Kingdom of Siam. Its strategic location at the confluence of the Chao Phraya, Lopburi, and Pa Sak rivers allowed it to flourish as a major trading hub, attracting merchants from China, Japan, Persia, and Europe.
The 15th to 18th centuries marked the zenith of Ayutthaya's power and influence. The city became renowned for its impressive architecture, intricate arts, and vibrant culture. The construction of grand temples, such as Wat Phra Si Sanphet and Wat Chaiwatthanaram, reflected the city's prosperity and devotion to Buddhism.
