Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Boat
To reach Wat Kanlaya, start by making your way to the nearest BTS Skytrain station, Krung Thonburi Station. Once you arrive, exit the station and head towards the river (Chao Phraya River). You can take a short walk to the Sathorn Pier (also known as Central Pier) where you can catch a boat. Look for a boat heading towards the Thon Buri direction. After a scenic ride, disembark at the Wat Kanlaya Pier. The temple is just a short walk from the pier; follow the signs that lead you to Wat Kanlaya.
BTS Skytrain and Walk
Begin your journey by taking the BTS Skytrain from any station to Krung Thonburi Station on the Silom Line. Once you arrive at Krung Thonburi, exit the station and head south along the road until you reach the riverbanks. From there, continue walking along the river until you see the signs for Wat Kanlaya. It’s about a 15-20 minute walk, and you will enjoy views of the river along the way.
Taxi Boat
If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi boat from any pier that offers services on the Chao Phraya River. Ask the boat operator to take you to Wat Kanlaya Pier. This option can be slightly more expensive but is faster and provides a unique view of the riverside attractions. Upon arriving at Wat Kanlaya Pier, the temple will be just a short walk away.
Tuk Tuk
For a local experience, you can take a tuk-tuk to Wat Kanlaya. Depending on your current location in Bangkok, ask the driver to take you to the temple. Make sure to confirm the price before starting the ride. The tuk-tuk will drop you off near the entrance of the temple, making it a convenient option.
