History of Central Pattaya

From Fishing Village to Seaside Resort

Pattaya developed from a small coastal settlement into a resort after the bay became known to visitors from Bangkok, particularly during the twentieth century. The turning point came during the Vietnam War era, when American military personnel based in the wider region used Pattaya for recreation. Roads, hotels, restaurants and entertainment businesses expanded rapidly around the bay, creating the urban framework that now defines Central Pattaya.
