Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Walking
From Old Bight Settlement, start at the local market where you can gather supplies. Head southeast along the main path, known as Queen's Highway. Continue walking for approximately 1 mile (1.6 km). You will pass by several small local homes and get a glimpse of island life. Once you reach the junction where the road splits, take the left path towards the coast. Follow this path until you see signs for The Great View. It is located up a slight hill, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from a local vendor in Old Bight Settlement. Start your journey on the main road, Queen's Highway, heading southeast. Cycle for about 1 mile (1.6 km) until you reach the fork in the road. Take the left path towards the coastline. The ride is relatively flat and easy, with some beautiful scenery along the way. After about 0.5 miles (0.8 km), you will reach The Great View, which is located on a hill. Lock your bike at the base and walk up to enjoy the panoramic views.
Boat
If you are near a beach or a dock in Old Bight Settlement, consider hiring a local boatman to take you closer to The Great View. Make arrangements at the local dock and ask for a boat to take you to the nearby cove. Once you arrive at the cove, you may have to walk a short distance on foot. Ask the boatman for directions to the viewing point, and they will guide you to the best spot for the views.
