Experience Abuko Nature Reserve

Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving, start from Kunta Kinteh Island and head towards the mainland via the ferry. Once you reach the mainland, follow the signs to the Brikama Highway (B1 road). Continue on the Brikama Highway for approximately 15 kilometers. You will see signs for Abuko Nature Reserve on your left side. The entrance to the reserve is easily accessible from the highway. Parking is available near the entrance.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Abuko Nature Reserve using public transport, take a ferry from Kunta Kinteh Island to the mainland. Once on the mainland, find a local 'Gele-Gele' (shared taxi) or a bus heading towards Brikama. Inform the driver that you wish to go to Abuko Nature Reserve. The ride should take about 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Make sure to ask the driver to drop you off at the entrance of the reserve. The fare for the shared taxi is typically around 20-30 dalasi.

  • Walking (from bus stop)

    If you arrive at the nearest bus stop along the Brikama Highway, you can walk to the entrance of Abuko Nature Reserve. From the bus stop, it is approximately a 10-minute walk. Head towards the direction of the signs for Abuko Nature Reserve. Keep an eye out for the entrance, which will be on your left side along the highway.
