Getting There

  • Car

    From Maracas Bay, head south on the North Coast Road (also known as the Maracas Bay Road) towards Port of Spain. Continue on this road for about 20 km (approximately 30 minutes). At the traffic lights, turn left onto the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway. Continue on this highway for about 10 km. Take the exit towards Orange Grove Road. You will see signs for Caroni Bird Sanctuary. Follow Orange Grove Road for about 5 km until you reach the sanctuary entrance at 65 Orange Grove Rd. Parking is available on-site.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Caroni Bird Sanctuary from Maracas Bay using public transport, take a taxi or shared taxi (maxi taxi) heading to Port of Spain. Ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest point to the bus terminal or the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway. From there, catch a maxi taxi heading towards Curepe or Chaguanas, and request to be dropped off at the exit for Orange Grove Road. After exiting, it’s about a 15-minute walk to the sanctuary entrance at 65 Orange Grove Rd. Note that the taxi fare from Maracas Bay to Port of Spain may range from TTD 30-50, and the maxi taxi fare to Orange Grove Road will be around TTD 10.
