Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving from Penal-Debe, start by heading north on the SS Erin Road (also known as the Southern Main Road). Continue on this road for approximately 10 kilometers until you reach the junction with the Uriah Butler Highway. Take the exit onto the Uriah Butler Highway heading towards San Fernando. After about 8 kilometers, take the exit for the Caroni/Manzanilla Road (Highway 2) towards San Rafael. Continue on this road for about 4 kilometers until you see Arena Road on your right. Turn onto Arena Road, and you will find the Arena Historical Site at the end of the road. There is no entry fee required, but be aware that the site is currently closed for upkeep.

    To reach Arena Historical Site using public transportation, first, take a taxi or a bus from Penal-Debe to San Fernando. Buses leave frequently from the Penal-Debe area and the fare is approximately TT$5. Once you arrive in San Fernando, look for a taxi or bus heading towards San Rafael. Make sure to inform the driver that you need to go to Arena Road. The fare for this leg of the journey should be around TT$10. Upon reaching Arena Road, you may need to walk a short distance to find the Arena Historical Site.
