Start your journey at the Sangre Grande Bus Terminal, located in the heart of Sangre Grande. Look for a minibus or taxi heading towards Matura. The fare is usually around TT$5-10. Once you board, inform the driver that you are going to Matura. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the Matura Junction where you will see a sign for Thomas Trace.

From the Matura Junction, you will need to walk along Thomas Trace. Continue walking straight for about 1.5 km until you reach the entrance to the Mermaid Pools trail. The path is marked, and you will see signs along the way. Be prepared for some uneven terrain, so wear comfortable shoes.

Once you reach the entrance to the Mermaid Pools trail, follow the marked hiking path. The trail can be steep in some areas, so take your time and enjoy the scenery. It will take approximately 30-45 minutes to reach the pools, depending on your pace. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks for your hike.
