If you are driving, the El Jem Museum is located in Al-Jamm, approximately 60 kilometers southeast of Sousse. From Sousse, take the N1 highway heading southeast. After about 45 minutes, you will see signs for El Jem. Follow the signs to the museum, which is near the famous Roman amphitheater. There is on-site parking available for visitors.
Public Transportation
To reach El Jem Museum via public transportation, start by taking a train from Tunis to Sousse. The train ride takes about 2 hours. Once in Sousse, head to the bus station and take a Louage (shared taxi) or a bus to El Jem. The Louage will cost around 5-10 Tunisian Dinars and takes approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive in El Jem, the museum is a short walk from the bus stop or Louage drop-off point.
Taxi
For a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Sousse to El Jem. The taxi fare will typically be around 60-80 Tunisian Dinars for the one-way trip. The journey takes about 45 minutes, and it is advisable to negotiate the fare with the driver beforehand.
