Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major town in the Murgab River Basin, such as Mary. Head northwest on the A-1 highway towards the city of Turkmenabat. After approximately 120 kilometers, take the exit towards the Murgab region. Continue on the main road for about 80 kilometers until you reach a fork. Take the left path and follow the signs towards Bugor Dzhanet. The last stretch is a dirt road; ensure your vehicle is suitable for off-road travel. The coordinates are approximately 37.4033° N, 54.3678° E.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus or shared taxi from Mary to Murgab. The journey will take about 3-4 hours. Once in Murgab, you can hire a local taxi or join a tour group to reach Bugor Dzhanet. Ensure to negotiate the fare beforehand, which may range from 50-100 TMT depending on the number of passengers and the vehicle type. The taxi will take you as close as possible to the peak, but expect to walk the last part, which is about 5 kilometers on foot.
Hiking
If you enjoy hiking, you can start your trek from the nearest road access point identified by your driver or local guide. The hike to Bugor Dzhanet is about 5 kilometers uphill, and it is advisable to bring enough water and snacks. The terrain can be challenging, so wear appropriate footwear. The hike will take approximately 1-2 hours depending on your pace.
