If you're near the Tuvalu Maritime Training Institute, walk south along the main road (also known as the 'Fongafale Road') towards the center of the island. As you walk, you will pass several small shops and local residences. Continue straight until you reach the junction where the road splits. Take the right fork at the junction and continue walking. After about 10 minutes, you will see signs that indicate you are approaching the Funafuti atoll.
