After about 5 kilometers, you will see signs leading to the Funafuti Conservation Area. Follow these signs, taking a left turn when you reach the fork in the road. The Conservation Area is located on the eastern side of the atoll, right near the lagoon. There is no specific entrance fee, but be mindful of any local guidelines regarding conservation efforts.
Public Transportation
While Funafuti Atoll has limited public transportation options, you can take a local bus or a shared taxi from the main village of Funafuti towards the airport. Ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest stop to the Funafuti Conservation Area. From there, it is a short walk (about 1 kilometer) to the entrance of the conservation area. Ensure you have some cash on hand, as the fare for the bus or taxi might vary but is generally affordable.
Bicycle
Renting a bicycle is a great way to explore Funafuti Atoll at your own pace. You can start from the main village and cycle south towards the Funafuti Conservation Area. The ride is approximately 5 kilometers and takes around 20-30 minutes, depending on your cycling speed. Along the way, enjoy the beautiful scenery of the atoll and its surroundings. Once you reach the conservation area, you can park your bicycle and explore the area on foot.
