Car
If you're traveling by car, start from Fort Portal, which is the closest major town to Amabere Caves. Drive north on the Fort Portal - Kasese Road (A109) for about 5 kilometers. Look for the signs indicating 'Amabere Caves' and turn left onto a gravel road. Continue on this road for approximately 2 kilometers, and you will reach the entrance to the Amabere Caves. There is parking available near the entrance.
Public Transportation
If you're using public transportation, take a taxi (shared minibus) from Fort Portal to Nyakasura. These taxis frequently depart from the central taxi park in Fort Portal. The ride should take about 15-20 minutes. Once you arrive in Nyakasura, you can either walk to the caves, which is about a 30-minute hike, or hire a local motorcycle taxi (boda boda) to take you directly to the entrance of the caves for a small fee, usually around 5,000 to 10,000 UGX.
Walking
For those who prefer to walk from Nyakasura to Amabere Caves, after arriving at the Nyakasura taxi drop-off point, head west on the main road. Follow the road signs to the caves, which will guide you along a scenic path through the local countryside. The walk will take approximately 30 minutes, and you can enjoy the beautiful landscape along the way.
