Broadbill Forest Camp, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Travel Guide

Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, head towards the Ruhija Gate of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. From the main road leading to the park, follow the signs directing you to Ruhija. Once you reach the Ruhija Gate, you will find Broadbill Forest Camp nearby. The camp is approximately 1 kilometer from the gate, accessible via a well-marked trail. Make sure your vehicle is suitable for the rough terrain, as some roads may be unpaved. Parking is available at the camp.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Broadbill Forest Camp using public transportation, take a bus or a matatu (shared taxi) from Kampala to Kabale. From Kabale, you can catch another matatu heading to Ruhija. This journey will take approximately 10-12 hours, so plan accordingly. Once you arrive at Ruhija, you can ask local guides or residents for directions to Broadbill Forest Camp, which is about 1 kilometer from the Ruhija Gate. It's advisable to hire a local boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) for a quicker and more convenient ride to the camp if you have heavy luggage.

• Hiking

  If you are already within Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and prefer an adventurous route, you can hike to Broadbill Forest Camp. Start from the nearest trailhead at the Ruhija Gate. Follow the marked trails through the beautiful forest, which is rich in biodiversity. The hike is approximately 1 kilometer and will take about 30-45 minutes. Be sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes and carry sufficient water, as the terrain can be uneven.
