Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving from Sebei, take the road towards Mbale. After approximately 30 kilometers, you will reach the junction to the Mount Elgon area. Follow the signs towards Budadiri and continue for another 20 kilometers. You will enter Mount Elgon National Park through the main entrance near Budadiri. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain as some parts of the road can be unpaved.

  • Public Transportation

    You can take a matatu (shared taxi) from Sebei to Mbale. Once you arrive in Mbale, look for another matatu heading to Budadiri. The fare for the first leg is around 5,000 UGX, and for the second leg, it should be about 3,000 UGX. Upon reaching Budadiri, you can hire a local boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to take you to the park entrance for roughly 10,000 UGX.

  • Boda-Boda

    If you are already in Budadiri, you can hire a boda-boda to take you directly to the Mount Elgon National Park entrance. The fare is approximately 10,000 UGX. Make sure the driver knows the way to the park entrance.
