Car
If you are traveling by car, make your way to Fort Portal town. From Fort Portal, head towards Kibale National Park. You can take the Bwamba Road, which leads you through scenic landscapes. Once you reach the park entrance, continue on the main road until you see signs for Isunga Lodge. The lodge is located within Kibale National Park, approximately 20 kilometers from Fort Portal. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for dirt roads, especially during the rainy season.
Public Transportation
To reach Isunga Lodge via public transportation, start your journey in Fort Portal. Head to the main taxi park and look for a taxi (shared minibus) heading to Kibale National Park. The fare is approximately 5,000 UGX per person. Inform the driver that you want to disembark at the Isunga Lodge turnoff. Once you arrive at the turnoff, you may need to walk or hire a motorcycle taxi (boda boda) to reach the lodge, which is about 5 kilometers away. Expect to pay around 15,000 UGX for the motorcycle ride.
Private Hire
For a more comfortable option, consider hiring a private vehicle or taxi from Fort Portal to Isunga Lodge. This can be arranged through your accommodation in Fort Portal or via local taxi services. The cost for a private hire vehicle is typically around 50,000 to 80,000 UGX, depending on the vehicle and distance. This method provides flexibility and convenience, especially if you are traveling with luggage or in a group.
