Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from Bath Abbey, head east towards Abbey Green. Walk straight through Abbey Green onto Union Passage. Continue straight until you reach the end of the passage, then turn left onto Union Street. Walk straight until you reach the junction with High Street. Cross over to High Street and continue walking until you reach the roundabout at the top of Milsom Street. From the roundabout, take the second exit onto Gay Street. The Jane Austen Centre is located at 40 Gay Street, which will be on your left in about 5 minutes.

    If you are near the Roman Baths, exit the Baths and head towards Stall Street. Walk straight along Stall Street until you reach the junction with Bridge Street. Turn right onto Bridge Street and cross over Pulteney Bridge. After crossing the bridge, continue straight onto Great Pulteney Street. At the end of Great Pulteney Street, turn left onto Bathwick Street, then take the next right onto Gay Street. The Jane Austen Centre will be on your right at 40 Gay Street.

    Starting from the Bath Spa Railway Station, exit the station and head towards the main road. Cross over to the bus stop area and take a right onto Dorchester Street. Walk straight until you reach the junction with Manvers Street and turn left onto Manvers Street. Continue walking until you reach a roundabout and take the second exit onto James Street West. Continue on this road until you reach the junction with Gay Street. Turn left onto Gay Street and you will find The Jane Austen Centre at 40 Gay Street on your left.

    From the city center, you can catch a bus that travels towards Bath Spa Railway Station. Board any bus that stops at the Bath Bus Station. Once there, exit the bus and follow the signs towards the city center, then head towards Gay Street. Walk straight along Gay Street until you reach number 40, where The Jane Austen Centre is located.
