MASH sits on the narrow pedestrian lane of Market Passage between Market Square and Sidney Street. The fully indoor club occupies a single-level space with a main dancefloor, bar, VIP booths, and toilets. Refurbished in 2021, the venue prioritised sound, lighting, air-conditioning, and a small VIP section rather than multiple rooms. Outdoor elements are limited to the entry queue and a smoking area. The surrounding daytime market stalls and shops give way to a dark, loud interior at night.

Club nights follow a weekly genre split: Fresh Tuesdays for R&B and UK rap, Thursday Memoria for international and student parties, Friday Let’s Kill Disco for dance music, and Saturday Good Life for commercial pop and hip-hop. Additional events include Queer Get Down nights and the monthly sober Karma Club. Live gigs range from local bands to tributes, with ticket prices commonly between £15 and £33. Doors open at 22:00 on club nights, though some live events start earlier.

Most visitors pre-drink elsewhere before joining the queue around 22:00. After ID checks, the sequence moves from bar to dancefloor, with optional VIP table service. Stays typically last three to five hours, ending between 01:00 and close at 03:30. Drink promotions such as £1.99 pints and £3 double vodka mixers run before midnight. Welfare officers are present every night alongside Ask for Angela and Good Night Out training. Free seating is limited and concentrated in paid VIP areas.

The building previously housed Fez Club, which closed during the pandemic in 2021 alongside other Cambridge venues such as Ballare. Promoters Louise and Josh Holly, with partners from Fat Poppadaddys and live-music promoter Alex, refurbished the site and opened MASH in July 2021. The name reflects a mash-up of genres and events. It operates with an inclusion-led, anti-corporate approach in a city where independent nightlife options have declined.

The venue is reached by a short walk from Market Square or most central colleges. Drummer Street bus station is five to ten minutes away, though services end before closing time. Taxis and rideshares from Market Hill rank or Bridge Street provide the main late-night option. Driving and parking are impractical due to pedestrianisation. Cycling is prohibited in Market Passage itself.
