Getting There

  • Walking

    If you're starting from the city center of Dundee, head towards the main bus station located at 26 Gellatly Street. From there, walk towards the River Tay. You can follow the road along the riverbank, which is called the Esplanade. Continue walking along the Esplanade until you reach the pedestrian bridge known as the 'Dundee Waterfront.' Cross the bridge, and then keep walking straight until you reach the main road, the A92. You will then need to head east towards St Andrews. After approximately 3.5 miles, you will come to a junction with signs for St Andrews. Follow the signs until you reach the town of St Andrews. Upon entering St Andrews, follow signs towards West Sands Beach.

    From the city center of Dundee, walk to the main bus station at 26 Gellatly Street. There are direct buses available to St Andrews. Look for the Stagecoach bus services that operate this route. The journey will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in St Andrews, disembark at the main bus stop. From there, it's about a 15-minute walk to West Sands Beach. Head towards the Old Course and follow the signs to West Sands Beach, which is located just north of the golf course.

    If you're an adventurous cyclist, you can rent a bike in Dundee and take the cycle path along the waterfront. Start at the Dundee Waterfront, and follow the cycle route towards St Andrews. The ride is about 10 miles and offers beautiful views of the coastline.
