From Edinburgh city center, head to the Lothian Buses stop at St Andrew Square. Take bus number 3, 8, or 49 towards the direction of Craigmillar. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Disembark at the stop named 'Craigmillar Castle Road'. From the bus stop, walk along Craigmillar Castle Road for about 5 minutes until you reach Craigmillar Castle, which will be on your left.

If you're near the Royal Mile, you can walk to Craigmillar Castle. Start at the Scottish Parliament and head southeast along Holyrood Road. Continue on this road until you reach the roundabout. Take the second exit onto St. John's Road, and follow it until it merges with Craigmillar Castle Road. After about 30-40 minutes of walking, you will arrive at Craigmillar Castle.

Take the Edinburgh tram from the city center (any tram stop along Princes Street will work). Head towards the Airport and disembark at the stop 'York Place'. From there, switch to bus number 3 or 49 towards Craigmillar. Get off at 'Craigmillar Castle Road' stop and walk 5 minutes to reach the castle.
