Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from Edinburgh Waverley Station, exit the station and head towards the East Market Street. From there, take a left onto Market Street and walk straight until you reach the Mound. Continue uphill on the Mound until you reach the Royal Scottish Academy on your left. Follow the road as it curves to the right and leads to the entrance of Edinburgh Castle. The Half Moon Battery is located within the castle grounds, so you will need to purchase a ticket to enter the castle.

Walking
If you are starting from the Royal Mile, head towards Castlehill and continue straight until you reach the entrance to Edinburgh Castle. As you enter the castle, follow the paths leading towards the Half Moon Battery, which is located on the western side of the castle. Look for signs directing you to the various attractions within the castle.

Bus
If you are near Princes Street, you can catch Lothian Buses number 23 or 27 from the bus stop at the west end of Princes Street. Ride for about 5-10 minutes and disembark at the stop for the Scottish National Gallery. From there, walk up the Mound towards Edinburgh Castle, following the path until you reach the entrance and then proceed to the Half Moon Battery.

Tram
Take the Edinburgh Tram from any stop along the tram line to the 'York Place' stop. From there, walk down to the East Market Street, turn right, and continue straight to the Mound. Follow the Mound uphill until you reach Edinburgh Castle. Once inside, make your way to the Half Moon Battery by following the signs.
