Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, start by navigating to the nearby town of Bangor, which is well connected by major roads. From Bangor, take the A5 road towards Holyhead. After approximately 20 miles, watch for signs for the A55. Take the A55 towards Conwy, but you will soon need to exit onto the A487 towards Caernarfon. Continue on the A487, passing through the beautiful scenery of Snowdonia National Park. Once you reach the village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, take the A4080 towards Newborough. Follow this road until you reach the coast, then turn left onto the B4421, which will take you to Trwyn Du Lighthouse. There is limited parking available nearby, so be sure to arrive early to secure a spot.

  To reach Trwyn Du Lighthouse using public transportation, start by taking a train from your current location in Gwynedd to Bangor Station. From there, transfer to a bus service towards Holyhead. Look for the 'Arriva' bus service on the A5 route. Once you reach the town of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, get off the bus and switch to a local taxi service to take you to Trwyn Du Lighthouse. Confirm the fare with the taxi driver before starting the journey as prices can vary. Alternatively, you could walk the remaining distance, which is approximately 3 miles along scenic coastal paths.

  If you are already in the nearby area and prefer walking, you can hike to Trwyn Du Lighthouse from the village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll. Take the path leading west that runs along the coastline. The hike is about 3 miles and will take approximately 1 hour. This route offers stunning views of the Menai Strait and the surrounding landscape. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and check the weather before heading out, as the paths can be uneven.
