Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major town in the Norfolk Broads, such as Wroxham. Head north on the A1151 towards Hoveton. Continue on the A1151 for about 5 miles until you reach the junction with the A149. Turn right onto the A149 towards Great Yarmouth. After approximately 3 miles, turn left onto the B1152 towards Potter Heigham. Follow the B1152, and as you approach Potter Heigham, look for signs to Hickling Broad. The main parking area is located near Potter Heigham NR12 0BW. Note that parking may incur a small fee, so have change available just in case.

• Public Transport

  For those using public transport, you can take a train to the nearest station at Hoveton & Wroxham, which is well connected to Norwich and other major cities. From Hoveton, you can catch a bus (service 56 or 57) towards Potter Heigham. This bus ride will take approximately 20 minutes. Alight at the stop for Potter Heigham. From there, it’s a short walk to Hickling Broad by following the signs. Ensure to check the bus timetable in advance, as services may be limited, especially on weekends.

• Bicycle

  If you're feeling adventurous, consider cycling to Hickling Broad. From Wroxham, you can take the B1152 road through the picturesque countryside. The journey is about 8 miles and offers beautiful views of the Broads. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow local cycling laws. There are bike racks available at Hickling Broad for you to secure your bicycle. The ride should take roughly 40-50 minutes, depending on your pace.

• Walking

  For those staying nearby, particularly in Potter Heigham, walking to Hickling Broad can be a lovely experience. It is approximately a 1.5-mile walk from the center of Potter Heigham. Follow the footpath signs towards Hickling Broad and enjoy the natural scenery along the way. This should take about 30 minutes. Ensure to wear appropriate footwear and check the weather conditions before setting off.
