History and Community Spirit

Originally known as The Wheatsheaf, this mid-19th century pub served as both a village local and coaching inn until its closure in 2020. The Ogbourne community rallied to purchase and refurbish it through the Ogbourne Community Pub Society, reopening in 2022. In 2024, chef Thomas Frake took the helm, preserving its heritage while elevating the food and drink offerings.

Food and Drink Excellence

Expect honest, classic British pub fare using seasonal local produce. Meat comes from Sumbler Brothers in Marlborough, fish from Devon and Cornwall, and herbs from the pub's garden. Menus change with the seasons, featuring Sunday roasts, themed nights, and dishes like burgers, fish and chips, and scotch eggs. Pair meals with two regular real ales, local ciders, artisanal wines, and spirits.

Atmosphere and Amenities

The cozy interior displays local history, racing silks, and art, with multiple rooms for dining and a bar area. Dog-friendly and family-oriented, it offers outdoor seating for sunny days, free parking, WiFi, and highchairs. Special events include Quiz Night, Steak Club, folk sessions, and guest supper clubs.

Open Wednesday to Saturday for lunch (12-3pm) and dinner (6pm-late), Sunday 12-5pm; closed Monday-Tuesday. Book online for up to 6; larger groups email. Walk-ins welcome but not guaranteed during peaks. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available.
