Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from York city centre, make your way to the main road, the A1036 (also known as Blossom Street). Head southwest towards the rail station. Once you reach the station, take the footbridge over the railway tracks to reach the other side. Continue straight onto Leeman Road. After about 0.5 miles, you'll come to a roundabout. Take the second exit onto the A1237 (the outer ring road). Follow this road until you reach the next roundabout, where you will take the first exit onto the A59. Continue along this road until you see signs for Holgate. Keep an eye out for Monument Close on your left-hand side. The York Cold War Bunker is located on Monument Close, which is a small side street off the A59.

    From York city centre, you can take the number 1 bus towards Acomb or the number 3 bus towards Clifton Moor. Both buses stop near Holgate. Get off the bus at the 'Holgate' stop. From there, walk down Holgate Road until you reach the junction with A59. Turn left onto A59 and look for Monument Close on your right in less than 5 minutes. The York Cold War Bunker is situated at the end of Monument Close.
