Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the main road (Route 10) leading to Cabo Polonio. Once you arrive at the entrance to Cabo Polonio, you will find a parking lot. Please note that private cars are not allowed to drive into Cabo Polonio itself. You will need to park your car here and take a 4x4 vehicle provided by the local transport service to reach Ingreso Cabo Polonio. The cost for the 4x4 ride is approximately 200 Uruguayan pesos (UYU) per person, and the journey takes about 15-20 minutes through the sand dunes.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Montevideo to Valizas. The bus ride takes around 5 hours. Once you arrive in Valizas, you can find a local 4x4 transfer service that will take you directly to Cabo Polonio. The fare for this trip is also around 200 UYU per person, and it takes approximately 30 minutes to reach Cabo Polonio. Upon arrival at Cabo Polonio, you'll need to take another 4x4 to Ingreso Cabo Polonio, which is usually included in the price of the first transfer. Make sure to confirm with the driver.
