Car
If you're traveling by car from Lavalleja, start by heading northwest on Ruta 8 towards the city of Trinidad. Follow Ruta 8 for approximately 90 km. Once you reach the outskirts of Trinidad, look for the signs directing you to ‘Palace Cave’ and take the exit towards Trazado Antiguo. Follow this road for about 5 km, and you will see the entrance to Palace Cave on your right. Note that there is usually no entry fee, but check ahead for any potential changes.
Public Transportation
To reach Palace Cave via public transportation, take a bus from the central bus terminal in Lavalleja to Trinidad. The bus ride takes around 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in Trinidad, you can take a local taxi or ride-sharing service to the cave, which is about 5 km away from the city center. Make sure to confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey. The cost for a taxi should be approximately 100-150 UYU.
