Getting There

Bus
From Tacuarembó city center, walk to the bus terminal located at Avenida José Artigas. Look for the bus company 'COT' or 'COTUY' that operates routes towards the 'Gruta de los helechos'. Purchase a ticket on board or at the terminal. The bus will take you along Route 5 towards the Gruta. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the stop for Gruta de los helechos. The stop is approximately 15 kilometers from Tacuarembó.

Walking
After getting off the bus, follow the dirt path indicated by signs towards Gruta de los helechos. The path is about a 20-minute walk. You will pass through some local vegetation and may encounter some small streams. Stay on the path and follow the signs until you reach the entrance to the Gruta.

Bicycle Rental
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Tacuarembó. Head towards Route 5 and follow the same route as mentioned for the bus. It is approximately a 15-kilometer ride. Expect the ride to take about 1.5 hours. Once you reach the Gruta, there are bike racks available for you to secure your bicycle.
