Asanalivo: A Hidden Gem of Nature in Asamaranda

Getting There

• Car

  From Port Olry, head southeast on the main road (the Ring Road). Continue on this road for approximately 10 kilometers. Keep an eye out for the signpost indicating Asanalivo. Once you see the sign, turn left onto a smaller road leading towards Asamaranda. Drive for another 2 kilometers until you reach Asanalivo, which will be on your right. There is no entry fee, but ensure your vehicle is suitable for the road conditions, as some sections may be unpaved.

• Public Transportation

  In Port Olry, locate the local bus terminal. Look for a bus heading towards Asamaranda, as they frequently run throughout the day. The bus fare is usually around 200 Vanuatu Vatu (about 2 USD). Inform the driver that you want to get off at Asanalivo. The bus will drop you off at a nearby point, approximately 1 kilometer away from your destination. From there, walk along the path towards Asanalivo, following the signs. The walk should take about 15-20 minutes.

• Walking

  If you're feeling adventurous and want to soak in the local scenery, you can walk from Port Olry to Asanalivo. From the center of Port Olry, head southeast along the main road (the Ring Road) and follow the same route as when driving. It is approximately a 12-kilometer walk, so plan for at least 2.5 to 3 hours. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, stay hydrated, and apply sunscreen. Keep an eye out for traffic, as the road can be busy.
