Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Sistine Chapel, exit through the main entrance and proceed straight ahead until you reach the entrance of St. Peter's Basilica. This should take about 5 minutes on foot. The entrance of St. Peter's Basilica is located in St. Peter's Square, which is recognizable by its grand colonnades.

    After visiting St. Peter's Basilica, walk back towards the Sistine Chapel entrance and turn left as you exit. Continue down the path until you reach the main road, Via della Conciliazione. Cross the road and you will find yourself in front of the Tiber River. Follow the riverbank heading north for approximately 15 minutes until you reach the Ponte Sant'Angelo, a beautiful bridge with great views.

  • Walking

    From the Sistine Chapel, head towards the Vatican Museums exit. Once you are out, take a left and walk down Viale Vaticano until you reach Piazza del Risorgimento. From there, you can take bus number 81, which travels towards the Centro Storico, and get off at the stop called 'Piazza Navona'. This bus ride will take approximately 15-20 minutes.
