Exit St. Peter's Basilica through the main entrance. Once you are outside, face the large square (Piazza San Pietro) in front of you. Walk straight ahead across the square towards the obelisk at its center. After passing the obelisk, continue walking towards the colonnades that surround the square. As you reach the end of the colonnades, take a slight left towards Via della Conciliazione, the main road leading away from the Vatican. Continue walking straight down Via della Conciliazione until you reach the Tiber River. Once you arrive at the river, turn right and walk along the riverbank. You will soon see Ponte Umberto I ahead of you, which is a beautiful bridge connecting you to the other side of the Tiber.
