From the main altar of St. Peter's Basilica, head towards the exit that leads you towards the Vatican Square (Piazza San Pietro). As you exit the basilica, you will find yourself facing the grand colonnade of the square. Walk straight ahead through the square towards the large obelisk in the center. Once you reach the obelisk, turn right and follow the path that runs alongside the basilica's outer wall. Continue walking along this path, and you will eventually reach the Saint John Tower, which is situated on the outer perimeter of the basilica complex.
