Walking
From St. Peter's Square, head towards the main entrance of St. Peter's Basilica. As you exit the square, turn left onto Via della Conciliazione. Walk straight along this road for about 900 meters until you reach the Tiber River. Once you reach the river, turn right and continue walking along the riverbank until you reach the Ponte Sant'Angelo (Bridge of Angels). Cross the bridge and continue straight ahead until you reach the intersection with Via dei Coronari. Turn left onto Via dei Coronari and continue walking straight until you reach Piazza Mattei, which will be on your right.
Public Transport
From St. Peter's Square, walk to the nearest bus stop at Piazza San Pietro. Take bus number 64 towards Termini Station. After about 10 minutes, get off at the stop called 'Piazza Navona'. From there, it's a short 15-minute walk to Piazza Mattei. Head east on Corso del Rinascimento, continue straight until you reach Via dei Coronari, then turn right. Finally, walk straight until you reach Piazza Mattei on your left.
Walking
If you prefer a more scenic route, you can walk from St. Peter's Square. Exit the square and head towards the Vatican Museums entrance. Instead of entering, continue along Viale Vaticano. After about 700 meters, turn right onto Via della Scrofa. Follow this road until you reach Piazza della Rotonda, where the Pantheon is located. From there, walk towards Via della Valle, then take a left onto Via dei Serpenti. Continue straight until you arrive at Piazza Mattei.
