Getting There

Walking
Exit the Vatican Museums through the main exit. Once you are outside, you will find yourself at the Viale Vaticano. Turn left and walk towards the large gates that lead to St. Peter's Square. As you walk, you will see the impressive dome of St. Peter's Basilica rising in the distance. Continue straight until you reach the entrance to St. Peter's Square (Piazza San Pietro). Once you enter the square, you will be surrounded by the stunning architecture of the basilica. The entrance to St. Peter's Basilica is located at the front of the square, directly facing you.

Walking
If you happen to exit the Vatican Museums from the back entrance, turn to your right and head towards the main road (Piazza del Sant'Uffizio). Walk straight until you reach the intersection, then turn left onto Via della Conciliazione. Continue walking straight along this wide avenue, which will lead you directly to St. Peter's Square. Once you arrive at the square, head towards the magnificent St. Peter's Basilica located at the far end. The entrance to the basilica will be visible as you approach.
