From the Vatican Museums main exit, head straight towards the entrance of the Vatican Museums complex. Once you reach the entrance, turn left and walk towards the large open space known as the Cortile della Pigna. Continue walking straight until you arrive at the exit gates of the Vatican Museums. After exiting, you will find yourself on Viale Vaticano. Cross the street and continue walking towards the large St. Peter's Basilica dome that you will see ahead. As you approach St. Peter's Basilica, you will see the iconic colonnade designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Walk through the colonnade and enter St. Peter's Square. The St. Peter Square Obelisk is located at the center of the square, easily visible. You can walk around the obelisk to take pictures and admire the surrounding architecture.
