Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the center of St. Johnsbury, VT. Head south on US-5 S for about 24 miles until you reach the intersection with I-91 S. Take I-91 S for approximately 12 miles. Take exit 2 for Brattleboro and turn left onto US-5 S. Follow this road for about 2 miles until you reach Reservoir Loop. Turn left onto Reservoir Loop, and you will find Retreat Tower at the end of the road. There is no parking fee at the tower, but be sure to check local regulations for any potential fees at nearby parks.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take the Greyhound bus from St. Johnsbury to Brattleboro. The journey typically takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Brattleboro bus station, you can either take a taxi or rideshare service like Uber or Lyft to get to Retreat Tower. The distance from the bus station to Retreat Tower is about 2 miles, which should cost approximately $10-$15. Alternatively, if you prefer walking, it will take roughly 40 minutes to walk to Retreat Tower from the bus station.

• Bicycle

  If you're feeling adventurous and want to bike to Retreat Tower, you can rent a bicycle in Brattleboro. Start at the Brattleboro Common and head south on Main Street. Turn right onto South Street, which will lead you to Reservoir Loop. The ride is approximately 2.5 miles and will take around 15-20 minutes. Be sure to wear a helmet and follow traffic laws. There are no specific bike rental fees aside from what the rental service charges, so check ahead.
