Getting There

  From Camel's Hump State Park, start by exiting the park onto Camel's Hump Road. Continue on Camel's Hump Road until you reach the intersection with Vermont Route 100. Turn left onto Vermont Route 100 South. Follow this road for approximately 7 miles until you reach the intersection with Vermont Route 232. Turn right onto Vermont Route 232 and continue for about 4 miles. You will reach the Groton State Forest entrance located on your right side. Look for signage indicating the forest entrance. There is no entrance fee for Groton State Forest.

• Public Transportation

  Public transportation options may be limited in this rural area. However, if you are near a bus station in Waterbury or Montpelier, take the Green Mountain Transit bus towards Stowe. From Stowe, you can arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to Groton State Forest. This may incur additional costs depending on the distance and service used. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance to coordinate your travel times.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can bike from Camel's Hump State Park. Start on Camel's Hump Road and follow the same route as if you were driving. Biking to Groton State Forest will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your cycling speed. Ensure you have a map or GPS device, as the route will involve navigating some potentially busy roads like Vermont Route 100. Always wear a helmet and be cautious of traffic.
