Travel Guide to Sterling Gorge Falls

Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from the main entrance of Camel's Hump State Park. Head north on Camel's Hump Road and follow it for approximately 3 miles until you reach the intersection with Route 100. Turn right onto Route 100 and continue for about 2 miles. Then, turn left onto Sterling Gorge Road. Follow Sterling Gorge Road for about 1 mile, and you will find the parking area for Sterling Gorge Falls on your left. Note that parking may be limited, especially during peak seasons, and there may be no parking fees, but always check for any local regulations.

• Public Transportation

  For those relying on public transportation, your journey will begin at a nearby bus stop in Stowe. Take the local public transit service towards Route 100. Depending on the schedule, you may need to transfer to another bus that goes towards Sterling Gorge Road. Once you arrive at the stop nearest to Sterling Gorge Road, you will need to walk about 1 mile to reach the falls. It's recommended to check the local transit schedules in advance as services may vary, and ensure you have a plan for your return trip.

• Hiking

  If you are already in Camel's Hump State Park and prefer to hike, you can take the Camel's Hump Trail or the Burrows Trail, which lead towards the area near Sterling Gorge. Follow the signs for the Sterling Gorge Falls, as the trails are marked. The hike will take approximately 1-2 hours depending on your pace. Make sure to wear proper hiking shoes and carry water, as the trails can be steep and challenging.
