If you are driving from Burlington, VT, take I-89 N for about 30 miles. Merge onto I-87 N toward Plattsburgh, NY. Continue on I-87 N for about 30 miles, then take exit 38 for NY-11 toward Champlain/Plattsburgh. Follow NY-11 for approximately 8 miles until you reach Rouses Point. Turn left onto Fort Montgomery Road, and you will find the entrance to Fort Montgomery on your right.

From Burlington, take the Green Mountain Transit bus to Plattsburgh, NY. The bus usually takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes. Once you arrive at the Plattsburgh bus station, transfer to the North Country Transit bus that travels toward Rouses Point. Get off at the Rouses Point stop, and from there, it is about a 15-minute walk to Fort Montgomery. Follow Route 11 west, then turn onto Fort Montgomery Road to reach the site.
