Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start by navigating to North Troy, Vermont. From the center of Lamoille County, head towards US-100 N. Follow US-100 N until you reach the junction with VT-105. Take a right onto VT-105 E and continue on this road. After approximately 10 miles, you will turn left onto River Road. Continue on River Road for about 3 miles, and you will see the entrance to Big Falls State Park at 1382 River Rd, North Troy, VT 05859. There is no entrance fee for the park.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Stowe, VT or Morrisville, VT to Newport, VT. Once you arrive in Newport, you will need to use a taxi or a rideshare service to reach Big Falls State Park, as public transport options are limited in this area. The taxi ride will take approximately 25 minutes and should cost around $30. Make sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as they may not be frequent.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can ride from nearby towns. From Morrisville, take the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail towards the north. Follow the trail until you reach North Troy. Once in North Troy, navigate to River Road by following local streets. This route is approximately 20 miles and may take 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your cycling speed. Ensure you have a good map or GPS device as some sections may not be well marked.

• Walking

  For the adventurous and fit, if you are staying in North Troy, you can walk to Big Falls State Park. From the center of North Troy, head east on Main Street until it merges into River Road. Continue on River Road for about 1.5 miles until you reach the park entrance. This walk will take around 30-40 minutes. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water.
