Ethan Allen Tower: A Historical Gem in Burlington

Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving, start from downtown Montpelier, the capital of Vermont. Head north on US-2 E for about 11 miles until you reach the intersection with I-89 N. Merge onto I-89 N and continue for about 25 miles. Take exit 14W for US-2 W towards Burlington. Continue on US-2 W for about 5 miles until you reach North Avenue. Turn left onto North Avenue and drive for approximately 1.5 miles. Ethan Allen Tower will be on your left at 1006 North Ave, Burlington, VT 05408. Please note that parking is available on-site.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, you can take the Greyhound bus service from Montpelier to Burlington. Once you arrive in Burlington, you can catch the local city bus (Chittenden County Transportation Authority) on route 12 or 13 towards the New North End. Get off at the North Avenue stop close to the tower. From there, it’s a short walk to Ethan Allen Tower at 1006 North Ave. The bus fare is approximately $1.50 each way.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, cycling is a great way to enjoy the scenic routes in Washington County. If you start in Montpelier, follow the same route as if you were driving, using North Avenue to get to Ethan Allen Tower. Make sure to wear a helmet and have a proper bike lock for when you arrive. The ride is about 16 miles and can take around 1-2 hours depending on your cycling speed.

• Walking

  If you're already in Burlington and prefer to walk, you can take a leisurely stroll from the downtown area. Head north on Church Street, then take a left on Main Street until you reach North Avenue. Continue walking on North Avenue for about 2 miles, and you will arrive at Ethan Allen Tower, located at 1006 North Ave. This walk can take about 40-50 minutes, offering a chance to enjoy the local scenery.
