If you are traveling by car along the Blue Ridge Parkway, take the exit at Milepost 168.5 for VA-8 South. Follow VA-8 South for approximately 8 miles until you reach the intersection with Moles Road SW. Turn left onto Moles Road SW and continue for about 1.5 miles. The Buffalo Mountain Natural Area Preserve will be on your right at 890 Moles Rd SW, Willis, VA 24380. There is no entrance fee for the preserve, but be sure to park in designated areas.

Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, you can take a bus to the nearest town, which is Floyd, VA. From Floyd, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to cover the remaining distance to Buffalo Mountain Natural Area Preserve, as there are no direct public transit routes to the preserve. The distance from Floyd to the preserve is about 16 miles. Expect to pay approximately $30-$50 for a taxi ride, depending on the service and time of day.

For those who are adventurous and prefer biking, you can bike from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Start at Milepost 168.5 and take VA-8 South as previously described. The route is scenic but does have some elevation changes. Make sure to wear a helmet and bring plenty of water, as the trip is about 10 miles and may take around an hour depending on your speed.
