If you are driving from Virginia Beach, take I-264 W towards Norfolk. Continue on I-264 W for about 18 miles. Take exit 9 for City Hall Ave. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for City Hall Ave. Continue on City Hall Ave for about 0.5 miles. The Norfolk City Historic Marker will be on your left at 256-288 E City Hall Ave, Norfolk, VA 23510. There is street parking available nearby, which may incur a fee depending on the time of day.

From Virginia Beach, take the Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) bus route 960 (The Tide) towards Norfolk. Ride to the stop at Monticello Ave and City Hall Ave. From there, it's a short walk to the historic marker, which is located at 256-288 E City Hall Ave. The bus fare is approximately $2.00. Be sure to check the bus schedule for the latest times.

If you're coming from Portsmouth, take the Midtown Tunnel (US-58 E). After exiting the tunnel, follow signs for I-264 E towards Norfolk. Continue on I-264 E for approximately 5 miles and take exit 9 for City Hall Ave. Merge onto City Hall Ave, and you will find the marker on your left at 256-288 E City Hall Ave. There are parking meters available in the area that may require payment.
