If you are driving from anywhere in Northern Virginia, start by getting onto I-395 N. Continue on I-395 N for about 5 miles until you reach the exit for I-695 E toward Washington. Merge onto I-695 E and stay on this route for about 2 miles. Take the exit for 6th St NW, then turn left onto 6th St NW. Continue on 6th St NW for a few blocks, and then turn right onto Pennsylvania Ave NW. Continue straight for about 0.5 miles. You will find Summerhouse at 20004, Washington, DC on your left, located near the Capitol grounds. Parking may be available nearby, but be aware that parking in downtown D.C. can incur fees, typically around $2-4 per hour.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start by locating the nearest Metro station in Northern Virginia (like the Crystal City or Pentagon City stations). Take the Yellow Line train towards Greenbelt. Change trains at Gallery Place-Chinatown station to the Red Line towards Glenmont. Get off at the Union Station stop. From Union Station, you can either walk about 15 minutes to Summerhouse or take Metrobus route 11Y or 42 towards the Capitol. The bus will drop you off near the Capitol building, and from there, it's just a short walk to Summerhouse. The Metro fare will depend on the time of day but typically ranges from $2.25 to $6.00 for a one-way trip.
