Stay on the bus until you reach the Fort Story stop. From there, you will need to walk approximately 0.5 miles towards Vera Cruz Rd. Follow the signs to the Battery 226 entrance. Please note that Fort Story is an active military base, and you may need to show identification at the entrance.
Biking
If you're comfortable biking, rent a bike from one of the local bike rental shops along the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. Head east on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk towards 24th St and turn left onto 24th St. Continue straight until you reach Atlantic Ave. Turn right and follow Atlantic Ave until you reach the intersection with 1st St. Continue straight onto Fort Story's entrance on 1st St and follow the road to Vera Cruz Rd. Battery 226 will be located nearby. Be cautious as you navigate the roads, especially near the military base.
Walking
If you are staying near the Virginia Beach Boardwalk, start from the 24th St and Atlantic Ave intersection. Walk south on Atlantic Ave until you reach 1st St. Turn left onto 1st St and continue until you reach the entrance of Fort Story. Be mindful that walking through the base requires identification. After entering, follow the signs to Vera Cruz Rd, where you will find Battery 226.
